Abstract

The objective of the current research is to investigate the effectiveness of the strategy of the six hats in developing the conceptual understanding of the ethical issues of third secondary students in Riyadh. To achieve the research objective, the researchers adopted the experimental approach. It was applied to random random sample of students in the third grade of secondary school. The number of female students was 55, which included two groups: the female student (28) and the pilot (27) students. The researchers developed research tools, a list of ethical issues, and a test that covered all six aspects of conceptual comprehension (explanation, interpretation, application, perspective, emotional participation, self-knowledge). The researchers used the T-test of the two independent samples to study the differences between the experimental and control groups and the Eta Square test to measure the impact of the six hats strategy in developing the conceptual understanding of ethical issues. The results showed statistically significant differences at (α> 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group who studied the ethical issues using the six hats strategy and the mean scores of the control group who studied using the traditional method; Ethical ethics in post-application. In light of the results of the research, a number of recommendations were presented, most notably: training courses for teachers and teachers for their training on how to employ the six thinking hats in teaching the biology curriculum, and demonstrating their effectiveness and advantages in developing and deepening the understanding.
