The degree of observance of health education standards included in the content of the science curriculum for the first grade in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Abstract

The objective of the current research is to reveal the degree of observance of the health education standards included in the content of the science curriculum for the first grade in the middle stage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the first and second semesters of the academic year 1436-1437. The number reached two books per book for each semester. The researcher has constructed a list of health education standards that must be taken into account in the content of the science curriculum for the first grade in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and then building the research tools: list of standards of health education in the intermediate stage and the card analysis of the content of this list. After the analysis of the data statistically revealed the results of the search for the following: 1 - The number of standards that have been considered in the content of the science curriculum for the first grade (13) standard of the total standards of health education, which was prepared (64) standard. 2 - not to include some areas of standards of health education in full, such as: (mental health, sexual health, diseases and prevention, medicines and dealing with them, bad habits, safety and first aid). 3 - The content of the science curriculum for the first grade in the middle stage does not adequately meet the standards of health education and therefore does not give a positive indicator to achieve the objectives of health education for students. In light of these results, the study concluded with a number of recommendations, most notably the need to review the content of the science curriculum for the first grade by incorporating more health standards in scientific curricula that focus on the functional aspect rather than scientific information.
