Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using alternative assessment strategies in student achievement and provide them with Metacognition skills in the subject of Science.

The paper dealt with the current importance of Metacognition skills in the field of education, and their relation to the evaluation. To achieve this Purpose has been defined in terms study (Metacognition skills and educational assessment ), In addition to that has been using the authentic assessment inside the classroom, where the study sample contain of 54 students from eighth grade, and has been used four strategies from the authentic assessment. and has been studied all of their characteristics psychometric. The results showed the progress of students significantly in the subject of Science for the authentic assessment, reflect their own abilities and fit and levels, the current study also confirmed to provide the students new Metacognition skills has been used to raise achievement in the subject of Science.
